HOUSTON, Texas – Leon Hirsch, vice president of Land and Business Development of Woodside Energy, will speak to the LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association-Houston Chapter as part of its Executive Speaker Series on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. The event will be held at UHY Advisors, located at 12 Greenway Plaza Suite 200. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6 p.m., and Hirsch will begin speaking at 7 p.m.
Hirsch earned his bachelor’s in business from LSU in 1973, and his certified professional landman license in 1980. He worked as a landman and manager of land for Amoco and BP for 30 years and was a founding partner and has served as vice president of Explore Enterprises LLC, where he was responsible for all land, commercial and business development activities.
Prior to his experience with Explore Enterprises, Hirsch was the manager of Land and Negotiations for BP’s Gulf of Mexico Offshore Business Units in New Orleans and Houston. He has 35 years of experience in all phases of the oil and gas industry, including exploration, exploitation, development, unitization, regulatory and analysis and design activities, both offshore and onshore. During his career he has provided leadership and direction to untold ventures, initiatives and activities, which have had significant results. He has served on numerous committees and Minerals Management Service Regulatory work groups and as a resource to regional and business unit staffs and leadership teams. Additionally, he has served as geographic director for the Amoco Foundation and BP Regional Community Committee. In March 2009, Hirsch was named to the E. J. Ourso College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council and serves as a member of its Marketing and Public Relations Committee.
